Reign in the New Year!

Happy new year everyone!

We kind of snuck out the PDF release of the second edition of Greg Stolze’s Reign roleplaying game in the week between Christmas and New Years of 2022, and we were very pleased with the response! Our intent was to launch immediately into some more extensive previews and promotions for it, but then, of course, everything in the tabletop roleplaying game space kind of exploded for a couple of weeks.

So we waited. But things are settling down (a little), and we hear that some people might be in the market for a new roleplaying experience. so here we are, reminding you that Reign: Rules and Reign: Realms are now both available in PDF form on both the AOP webstore, and DrivethruRPG.com!

The Reign roleplaying game expands the frontiers of fantasy gaming by elevating the action to an international stage. Monarchs and mercenaries gamble armies and fortunes to win nations in a rich and vibrant fantasy setting. Reign’s simple but complete rules model the triumphs and disasters of societies as small as a village or as large as a realm-spanning religion. With Reign, your characters can defend and bring prosperity to threatened lands–or, if you prefer, conquer and pillage on a vast and awesome scale. This second edition of Greg Stolze’s One Roll Engine-powered game of lords and leaders is built from the start to put the characters in charge of nations, churches, cults, and criminal mobs. You aren’t just doing the King’s tasks—you can be the King doing the tasks. You become the movers and shakers in the setting, or fail due to your own glorious hubris.

Reign: Realms details Heluso & Milonda, a fantasy world like none other birthed from the mind of Greg Stolze. The very geography of Heluso and Milonda is outlandish and strange, as its folk live out their lives on the vast, calcified bodies of two dead gods locked in an eternal lover’s embrace. A wealth of detailed cultures populate these strange continents, tailored to the Reign system rules for running nations and influencing factions. Additionally, Reign: Realms contains two smaller settings that flex the One Roll Engine rules in different directions. Ardwin demolishes and reassembles the treatment of “fantasy races” with no humans, a clear split between how you’re born and how you’re raised, and fantasy genetics explaining how six different humanoid groups interbreed. Nain is a setting of high wizardry where the wands, pointy hats, and spell grammar hide a society full of inequalities, resentments, and treasonous conspiracies.

And finally, watch for Reign: Realities, a series of (and ultimately book of) smaller alternate settings that take the Reign rules through the gamut of RPG genres. From techno-thriller adventure, to feudal Japan warfare, to the highest of high fantasy, and the lowest of grimy science fiction, Reign: Realities will have it all.

It’s 2023. It’s time for your Reign to begin!
